The most common errors on websites

A website is a place where each company can present its offer, achievements, inform about current promotions and novelties. It plays an important image and marketing function, it is also a kind of communication platform with customers.

It's a wonder how nonchalantly some companies approach the whole issue of the company's website. It is worth answering the question, for whom are the websites really created? After all, it is not for their owners - but for Internet users, recipients, potential and current customers who are looking for various products and services in the network.

Weaknesses and deficiencies of the website may effectively discourage the company, which some entrepreneurs do not seem to know about.

Here are the most common errors on websites:

- Non-intuitive navigation on the website - difficulty in navigating through it and finding interesting recipients of information

- Unattractive graphics

- Too many flash elements that make it difficult to find one's way around.

- Opening subpages in new windows

- Pop-up advertising windows

- Poor image quality

- Lack of complete contact details or outdated data

As you can see errors can appear on different levels - functionality, transmission, programming, graphics.

However, one of the most important elements of the website is its content. What sins do website owners commit in this topic?

A small amount of content - short descriptions, brief information about the company and the offer. Most website owners explain this by the fact that their customers are only interested in photos, prices and technical parameters (depending on the specificity of the industry), and no one reads the texts anyway. This is not necessarily true - an interestingly written text can be a source of important information that will interest the customer and encourage him to buy goods or use the service. (From the SEO point of view, it is of course even more important to comply with Google's search engine's guidelines on website content adequate to keywords).

The second sin associated with content is copying it from other sites, which is a clear violation of Google's recommendations and is a popular problem with Duplicate content. The search engine may consider such a website to be of little value, containing content that is already available on the web, and thus completely ignore it. For an Internet user such duplicated content does not represent any value either.

Another issue is the illegibility of the text - wrong formatting, too small font, etc. can be a serious obstacle in reading (not to mention spelling errors, which are completely disqualifying, and unfortunately do happen).

The Internet is a space for rapid changes. Some websites are very old and unfortunately you can see it, they arouse aversion and pity among Internet users. It is extremely important to adapt to the requirements of modern times - e.g. in terms of responsiveness, i.e. flexibility in displaying the website on various screens of mobile devices - smartphones, tablets, which are more and more commonly used. It is also worth listening to the voices of customers. If they call with comments that they could not find some basic information on the website - maybe it's time to change?
